Renewing a FDW\u2019s contract ultimately boils down to renewing her work permit \u2013 it is recommended but not compulsory (by MOM standards) to establish an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/maid\/employment-contract\">employment contract<\/a> between the employer and the FDW to lay down the rights and obligations of both parties.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"For_Filipino_FDWs\"><\/span>For Filipino FDWs<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_1_Receive_renewal_notice\"><\/span><strong>Step 1<\/strong>: Receive renewal notice<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The employer receives a renewal letter from MoM <strong>8 weeks<\/strong> before the helper\u2019s Work permit expires.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_2_Renew_insurance\"><\/span><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: Renew insurance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The employer renews or acquires a helper\u2019s insurance package consisting of a security bond and a medical and personal insurance.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_3_Get_Authenticated_Contract\"><\/span><strong>Step 3<\/strong>: Get Authenticated Contract<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The employer and the helper must visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.philippine-embassy.org.sg\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philippine Embassy in Singapore<\/a> to get an <strong>Authenticated Contract<\/strong> (you can just walk-in). The following documents must be submitted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 original and 1 copy of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.philippine-embassy.org.sg\/forms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Employment Contract<\/a><\/li>\n<li>1 original and 1 copy of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.philippine-embassy.org.sg\/wp-content\/uploads\/polo2017rev1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Undertaking of an Employer<\/a><\/li>\n<li>2 copies of the current work permit<\/li>\n<li>2 copies of the helper\u2019s current passport<\/li>\n<li>2 copies of the employer\u2019s IC<\/li>\n<li>1 original and 1 copy of S$7,000.00 performance bond<\/li>\n<li>1 copy of medical insurance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If your helper\u2019s passport needs renewing, <a href=\"https:\/\/philippineembassysgconsular.checkappointments.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">make an appointment with the Philippine Embassy for the passport renewal<\/a> and make sure to produce an extra copy of her current work permit and passport along with a duly completed OWWA Information Sheet.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_4_Apply_online\"><\/span><strong>Step 4<\/strong>: Apply online<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The employer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mom.gov.sg\/eservices\/services\/work-permit-transactions-for-domestic-helpers-and-confinement-nannies\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">renews the work permit online<\/a> before it expires through the submission of certain key documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Scanned copy of the personal particulars page of the helper\u2019s valid passport<\/li>\n<li>Security bond<\/li>\n<li>Personal accident insurance<\/li>\n<li>Medical insurance<\/li>\n<li>A $35 renewal fee<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The renewal will be immediately processed upon submission of the above-mentioned documents and the new work permit card will be delivered within 4 working days. After submitting the renewal application, check to see if the temporary work permit asks you to return the old card. If not, keep the existing card.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_5_Prepare_for_home_leave\"><\/span><strong>Step 5<\/strong>: Prepare for home leave<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Your Filipino helper is entitled to a home leave every 2 years. She will need to comply with certain <a href=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/maid\/home-leave\">immigration requirements<\/a> to be allowed to re-enter Singapore. Filipino nationals are required to register with their Embassy by producing the following documents:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2 copies printed appointment sheet<\/li>\n<li>1 Valid Embassy verified employment contract<\/li>\n<li>Original work permit<\/li>\n<li>Original passport<\/li>\n<li>Two-way ticket or itinerary issued by a travel agency<\/li>\n<li>Proof of OWWA valid membership<\/li>\n<li>Updated receipt of Pag-ibig Fund membership contribution<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once they have registered they can purchase an exit document called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/maid\/home-leave\">Overseas Employment Certificate<\/a> (OEC). The helper can get this OEC online.<\/p>\n<figure><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/yoopies-cms2f9f65b27b-e0e3-4582-a6dc-30823b2eb2aa-renewworkpermitcontractdomsetichelpersingapore.jpg\" alt=\"A strict renewal procedure must be followed with distinct instructions depending on the FDW\u2019s nationality.\" \/><\/figure>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"For_Indonesian_FDWs\"><\/span>For Indonesian FDWs<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_1_Receive_renewal_notice-2\"><\/span><strong>Step 1<\/strong>: Receive renewal notice<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The employer receives a renewal letter from MOM <strong>8 weeks<\/strong> before the helper\u2019s work permit expires.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_2_Renew_insurance-2\"><\/span><strong>Step 2<\/strong>: Renew insurance<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The employer renews or acquires a helper\u2019s insurance package i.e. a security bond and a medical and personal insurance.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_3_Renew_passport\"><\/span><strong>Step 3<\/strong>: Renew passport<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The Indonesian helper accompanied by her employer must renew her passport if it is expiring in less than 6 months by submitting the following documents at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kemlu.go.id\/singapore\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indonesian Embassy in Singapore<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A duly completed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.embassypages.com\/missions\/embassy5051\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PERDIM 11 form<\/a> (in Bahasa Indonesia)<\/li>\n<li>1 copy of the employer\u2019s IC<\/li>\n<li>1 original and 1 copy of the helper\u2019s current passport<\/li>\n<li>2 passport size photographs<\/li>\n<li>A $38 renewal fee in cash<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Once all the necessary documents have been submitted, your FDW will be given a passport payment slip that will enable her to collect her new passport within 3 working days.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Step_4_Visit_the_Consular_Department\"><\/span><strong>Step 4<\/strong>: Visit the Consular Department<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>You will then be able to visit the Consular Department (located on the <a href=\"https:\/\/kemlu.go.id\/singapore\/en\/pages\/waktu_pelayanan_\/496\/etc-menu\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">second floor of the Indonesian Embassy<\/a>) where your helper and you will have to attend a quick interview with an officer, after which a Work Agreement \u2013 distinct from the employment contract recommended by MOM \u2013 will be produced.
