While the minimum wage was increased by 2.3% in October 2017 to HK$4,410, the HK$4,799 average salary is HK$254 or 5.5% above the results of &nbsp;<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/helperchoice-salary-survey-areas-hong-kong-employers-pay-domestic-helpers-least\">the previous survey in 2017<\/a><\/u>. &nbsp;In the meantime, the consumer price index increased by 2.5%. This means that the domestic helpers have more to save, to send to their families back home or to improve their daily life in Hong Kong. For example, by saving HK$1,000 per month during 4 years, they can finance their children education: HK$250 per month can make a difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, this global positive trend hides significant disparities between the different Hong Kong districts. While some employers in Happy Valley and Sai Ying Pun offer up to HK$8,500, most of the employers in Kwun Tong don\u2019t offer more than the HK$4,410 minimum wage. These results correlate with our<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/helperchoice-salary-survey-areas-hong-kong-employers-pay-domestic-helpers-least\">\u00a0preceding results<\/a><\/u>, showing that the helpers tend to earn more in affluent areas of <strong>Hong Kong<\/strong>, such as <strong>Central &amp; Western<\/strong>, and the Southern district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"527\" height=\"428\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Screen-Shot-2018-09-07-at-3.33.58-PM.png\" alt=\"HelperChoice Average domestic helpers salaries\" class=\"wp-image-5181\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Screen-Shot-2018-09-07-at-3.33.58-PM.png 527w, https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Screen-Shot-2018-09-07-at-3.33.58-PM-300x244.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 527px) 100vw, 527px\" \/><figcaption>HelperChoice Average domestic helpers salaries by district<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Unsurprisingly, the domestic helpers salaries are higher in areas favored by wealthy families and international residents. <strong>The top 5 Hong Kong districts with the highest wages<\/strong> are: the Southern side, Central &amp; Western districts, the Islands, Sai Kung and Wan Chai. The global average salary for these 5 districts &nbsp;&nbsp;is HK$4,881, which is HK$471 above the current <strong>foreign domestic workers<\/strong> <strong>minimum wage<\/strong>. In the sole Central sub-district, the average salary reaches HK$5,595, that is to say HK$1,185 more than the minimum wage. This is of course balanced by a high level of skills and experience required from the domestic workers working in these families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other hand, HelperChoice also investigated the <strong>5 districts with the lowest average salaries<\/strong> for domestic helpers. Considering, the housing costs in Hong Kong, this has of course a huge impact on the domestic helpers\u2019 budget and the money they can save or send back home. However, the comfort of the living arrangements plays a significant part of domestic workers living condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As the employers can specify the type of accommodation they offer to their domestic workers, HelperChoice also investigated which are the most common living arrangements. <strong>The survey exposes that a large majority (70%) of the job offers include a private room<\/strong>, 16% a room shared with a kid and 10% a room shared with another domestic worker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"525\" height=\"419\" src=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Screen-Shot-2018-09-07-at-3.34.14-PM.png\" alt=\"HelperChoice domestic helpers most common living arrangements in Hong Kong\" class=\"wp-image-5183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Screen-Shot-2018-09-07-at-3.34.14-PM.png 525w, https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/Screen-Shot-2018-09-07-at-3.34.14-PM-300x239.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 525px) 100vw, 525px\" \/><figcaption>HelperChoice domestic helpers most common living arrangements in Hong Kong<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>While in most areas private rooms are common for domestic workers, Hong Kong remains a city where real estate often rhymes with high prices and small spaces. Therefore, 26% of shared living arrangements is not a surprising figure, and among all the districts, only Wong Tai Sin and Kwai Tsing are proposing a majority of shared accommodations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u9999\u6e2f\u52de\u5de5\u8655\u65bc\u904e\u53bb\u5e7e\u5e74\u90fd\u6703\u5728\u4e5d\u6708\u5e95\u516c\u4f48\u65b0\u7684\u6cd5\u5b9a\u5916\u50ad\u6700\u4f4e\u5de5\u8cc7\u3002\u6709\u898b\u53ca\u6b64\uff0cHelperChoice\u5206\u6790\u4e86\u5728\u6e2f\u50f1\u4e3b\u75312017\u5e7410\u67081\u65e5\u81f32018\u5e747\u670831\u65e5\u65bc\u8a72\u7db2\u4e0a\u50f1\u50ad\u5e73\u53f0\u4e0a\u767c\u5e03\u7684\u7d04\u4e8c\u5343\u500b\u62db\u8058\u5ee3\u544a\u7684\u6578\u64da\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u8a72\u8abf\u67e5\u986f\u793a\u51fa\u4e00\u500b\u975e\u5e38\u4ee4\u4eba\u9f13\u821e\u7684\u8da8\u52e2\uff1a<strong>\u9023\u7e8c\u7b2c\u4e8c\u5e74\uff0c\u5916\u50ad\u5e73\u5747\u85aa\u91d1\u7684\u589e\u5e45\u9ad8\u65bc\u6cd5\u5b9a\u6700\u4f4e\u5de5\u8cc7\u7684\u589e\u5e45\u3002<\/strong>\u96d6\u7136\u6cd5\u5b9a\u6700\u4f4e\u5de5\u8cc7\u7531\u53bb\u5e74 9\u670830\u65e5\u8d77\u589e\u52a02.3%\u81f34,410\u6e2f\u5143\uff0c\u4f46\u8abf\u67e5\u7d50\u679c\u53cd\u6620\u5916\u50ad\u7684\u5e73\u5747\u6536\u5165\u70ba4,799\u6e2f\u5143\uff0c\u8f03\u8a72\u5e73\u53f0\u7684<a href=\"https:\/\/www.helperchoice.com\/c\/helperchoice-salary-survey-areas-hong-kong-employers-pay-domestic-helpers-least\">2017\u5e74\u540c\u671f\u8abf\u67e5\u7d50\u679c<\/a>\u9ad8\u51fa254\u6e2f\u5143\uff085.5%\uff09\u3002\u800c\u4eca\u5e74\u7684\u6d88\u8cbb\u7269\u50f9\u6307\u6578\u4e0a\u53472.5%\uff0c\u9019\u610f\u5473\u8457\u5916\u50ad\u5011\u53ef\u4ee5\u5132\u4e0b\u66f4\u591a\u9322\u3001\u532f\u66f4\u591a\u6b3e\u56de\u5bb6\u6216\u6539\u5584\u4ed6\u5011\u5728\u9999\u6e2f\u7684\u65e5\u5e38\u751f\u6d3b\u3002\u6bcf\u6708250\u6e2f\u5143\u7684\u85aa\u91d1\u589e\u9577\u53ef\u4ee5\u5e36\u4f86\u5f88\u5927\u7684\u6539\u8b8a\uff0c\u8209\u500b\u4f8b\u5b50\uff0c\u4e00\u500b\u5916\u50ad\u9023\u7e8c\u56db\u5e74\u6bcf\u6708\u5132\u4e0b1,000\u6e2f\u5143\uff0c\u5979\u53ef\u4ee5\u8cc7\u52a9\u5b69\u5b50\u63a5\u53d7\u66f4\u597d\u7684\u6559\u80b2\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u4e0d\u904e\uff0c\u9999\u6e2f\u4e0d\u540c\u5730\u5340\u5916\u50ad\u85aa\u91d1\u7684\u986f\u8457\u5dee\u8ddd\u672a\u6709\u5728\u9019\u500b\u7e3d\u9ad4\u8da8\u52e2\u4e2d\u53cd\u6620\u3002\u8dd1\u99ac\u5730\u53ca\u897f\u71df\u76e4\u7684\u90e8\u5206\u50f1\u4e3b\u63d0\u4f9b\u7684\u85aa\u91d1\u9ad8\u90548,500\u6e2f\u5143\uff0c\u4f46\u89c0\u5858\u7684\u5927\u90e8\u5206\u50f1\u4e3b\u4e0d\u63d0\u4f9b\u9ad8\u65bc\u6700\u4f4e\u5de5\u8cc7\uff084,410\u6e2f\u5143\uff09\u7684\u85aa\u91d1\u3002\u9019\u4e9b\u7d50\u679c\u8207HelperChoice<a
