First Aid Training by Best First Aid
The BEST (Bespoke Emergency Skills Training) Care for Children course is an innovative CPR and first aid training course that teaches domestic helpers and parents how to provide emergency care for injured or ill infants and children. An accident can always happen, your helper should know how to react to and deal with emergency situations. Your helper will learn about the types of medical emergencies that children face and how they differ from adult conditions. The curriculum also includes the importance of attending to basic emergency situations with children, the emotional aspects of caring for children, and preventing common injuries and illnesses in children. The courses follow current emergency patient care standards as published in the American Heart Association Guidelines.
During the course your helper will learn the following: importance of first aid, first aid and the law, emergency services procedure in Hong Kong, how to minimise the chance of disease transmission and how to handle emotional reactions when providing emergency care.

- Serious Bleeding Management & Shock Management
- Spinal Injury Management
- Bandaging & Splinting for Dislocations and Fractures
- Injury assessment
- Anaphylaxis (practice with simulator adrenaline autoinjector)
The instructor is Charles McConnellogue who was initially trained in First Aid by the Royal Air Force over 30 years ago. Charles is a certified instructor for both the Emergency Care & Safety Institute and Emergency First Response.
The certifying organisation is the Emergency Care & Safety Institute in the USA in association with American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College of Emergency Physicians. Our courses follow current emergency patient care standards as published in the American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care and the Basic Life Support (BLS) group of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). The certification is accepted by the Hong Kong Government Education Bureau.
